Quartz (Smoky)
2
Water-clear and flawless, with a glassy lustre throughout. Smoky quartz crystals with, unusually, two large gwindels, respectively 95 and 80 mm long, set on a plate of normal prismatic smoky quartz crystals. No damage or contacts. The dark reddish brown colour is distinctive to this locality. The strahler Conrad Berther found the piece 2004. In 2011 Reinhard Dallinger acquired the piece from the Watzl brothers, who had acquired it from Berther. The piece was displayed in the ‘European Classics’ exhibition during the Munich Mineral Show in 2011.
