This Elbaite specimen from Barra de Salinas near Coronel Murta in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais state, Brazil might be smaller miniature in size but is exquisite. Its two gently crossing intensely colour-zoned prismatic Elbaite crystals rising from an island of Lepidolite mica simply exudes class. These crystals, like identical twins, are the same length (2.7 cm) and display the same striking zonation in colour from raspberry pink upwards and along the outer edges to teal blue. Bright and glassy throughout, their flat pinacoid terminations are even brighter still. It has two declared repairs, but I have to honest I can't see where they are. An absolutely choice smaller miniature pegmatite specimen.
