The true sign of a classic is one which is instantly recognizable. Here, small, curved, saddle-shaped Dolomite crystals are scattered upon a layer of sparkling glossy black razor-sharp Specularite Hematite crystals, themselves coating massive reddish Hematite. Combined, this association shouts out West Cumbrian Iron Mining District. At small cabinet in size this is a great sized specimen for the price, and it has unusually good locality information - from Beckermet mine near Egremont. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no.
