The Cornish China Clay pits occasionally threw up some really interesting mineralogical occurrences, not least suites of interesting phosphate species. Gunheath China Clay Pit was one of the most significant sites and during the 1980s produced by far and away the most spectacular Turquoise specimens seen in the UK. This very intensely coloured miniature specimen from there actually show microcrystalline surfaces and cavities which was very unusual. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no. MS 1992.073.
