This dense miniature specimen is a classic Cornish Cassiterite from Trevaunance mine near St. Agnes. Iconic in form, and well-balanced in shape, it shows off a small cavity lined with the famous gemmy mid- to dark-brown glossy Cassiterite crystals (the largest reaching 7 mm in length) for which this mine was renowned. The remainder of the specimen is a heavy intergrowth of massive to finely crystallized Cassiterite and white Milky Quartz. A choice miniature Cassiterite from one of the Cornish greats. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no. MS 2003.006, this specimen is also accompanied by a famous Richard Barstow green stock label that records the number 1226 which is also present as a loose circular label detached from his label where it was once glued.
