This is a spectacular prehnite-pectolite combination specimen from the Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada. Two gorgeous, two-toned, bowtie bundles of unusually well-crystallized prehnite that resemble stilbite dominate two-thirds of the piece and then flanked on one side by several, glassy, lustrous, transparent, prismatic crystals of pectolite. The lustrous prehnite "bowties" have a beige central area that transitions quickly on either side to almost a sherry-peach color on their ends. These clusters are 3.4 and 2.8 cm in size, respectively that are quite beautiful and a unique color for the species! The pectolite forms a broad, slightly divergent, group of just excellent bladed and gemmy, very lustrous crystals of pectolite from 0.7 to 3 cm in length. This is one of the best combinations specimens of its kind from the Jeffrey Mine and it is from the long-held collection of Charlie Key, the dealer who specialized in Canadian and Tsumeb minerals, among others. He kept a vast personal collection of Jeffrey Mine material for a long time until he sold it off a couple of decades ago. Prehnite was his favorite species (do not ask why - he never really had an answer for that!). Charlie built a huge worldwide collection of aesthetic display examples of prehnite, which we obtained around 2015. He emphasized beauty and quality - and rarity of styles. This likely came out in the 1960s-80s. This is, later (after we sold it), from the important collection of aesthetic rare species assembled over 50 years by well-known Mannheim collector Paul Stahl, a superb and beautiful piece.
