This distinctive large miniature Vanadinite with its flame-like orange-red crystals and dark brown overgrowth of Descloizite is labelled as from Berg Aukas but it is the classic assemblage from Abenab mine - another lead-zinc deposit near Grootfontein, but situated 18 miles north-northwest of Berg Aukas. Abenab mine closed in 1948 and at the time was famous for having produced the world's largest Vanadinite crystals. This is undoubtedly a very old specimen, but is also a superb example of this unusual combination.
