The polymetallic veins of the Peruvian Andes have been famous among mineral collectors for at least the last 30 or 40 years. With such a long track record, it was somewhat of a surprise when a novelty showed up on the market three or four years ago in the form of these wonderful green fluorite octahedrons from the Milpo mine. This 7 cm specimen consists of an attractively jumbled stack of modified fluorite octahedrons of a pleasing green color in association with pyrite sphalerite and possibly the rare mineral geocronite.
