The Milpo mine in the Peruvian Andes has demonstrated that there are still new things to be had in Peru. This specimen, measuring 3.1 cm, is a beautiful example of the best that Milpo has to offer. A highly loustrous, complex, green octahedron of fluorite rests on a matrix of unusually large and sharp pyrite crystals (they’re usually pretty small and sugary looking). The color is ideal, recalling the amazing and very difficult to acquire fluorite crystals from Malberget in Sweden.
