Manganese-bearing Calcite
A very striking and three dimensional specimen of Manganese-bearing Calcite from the Shizhuyuan Mine. The Calcite crystals in this specimen are stacked together in thick columns of sharply-formed, flattened rhombohedrons: this is often referred to as "Pagoda" Calcite, due to its resemblance to Chinese Pagoda towers. Each crystal has a translucent floral pink hue attributed to the manganese content; when viewed under UV light, the Calcite crystals powerfully fluoresce pinkish-orange (shortwave) to hot pink (longwave). This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
