A spectacular example of an azurite from the highly sought after "electric blue" or "blue gem" pocket of around 2010, this is a superb small cabinet specimen with incredibly fine aesthetics and shocking color. This cluster is one of the better small cabinet sized specimens from the find in this quality, and the specimen is complete 360 degrees with that top crystal fully formed : and, it is pristine. For that matter, the whole display face is pristine except only at base contact where it grew on dickite and was attached to the pocket wall. This specimen came out when Wayne Thompson was handling many of the best pockets of azurite, and he kept it in a small collection of small cabinet sized specimens he built briefly; later selling them quietly one by one. This ended up with Jack Halpern when he decided to jump in on Milpillas and purchased over a dozen fine Milpillas specimens of different styles, just before the mine really stopped producing. These are highly represented in his collection, although he only had this one from this perhaps most famous of pockets. Shown as figure 35 on page #54 of Addicted to Beauty: The Legacy of Jack Halpern (Mineralogical Record, March 2025).
