Zinkenite
Zinkenite is an uncommon lead antimony sulfosalt and this is a truly showy and display-quality example for the species with unusual luster. This very fine and sculptural, two-sided specimen consists of jackstraw, radiating clusters of lustrous, thick needles or toothpicks of steel-gray to steel-blue Zinkenite from the well-known San Jose Mine in Bolivia. This mine, along with the Itos Mine, were closed in 1992, but subsequently mined by artisanal miners for specimens in the the mid-1990s when most of these great specimens came out. This is a great small cabinet piece from that time period. Ex. Bill and Anne Cook collection.
