Description
Painite is one of the rarest of minerals, and is a gem species as well. Matrix specimens are almost never seen, and were never even known until a few small finds in Burma. This specimen hosts an unusually elongated, fine translucent amber-brown crystal to 2.7 cm, protected in pegmatite matrix. It is a very surprising piece that came out of an old collection, and probably came out in the early 2000s.
