Spodumene var. Kunzite

This quite large, individual, bladed, off matrix, Spodumene crystal, is the pink variety Kunzite, and its colour is excellent. The crystal is not absolutely perfect, but it is nicely formed with a complete termination. The upper edges of the prism are sharp and well-formed, but become more ragged towards the base. The sides show excellent vertical growth lines as lateral striations, and when viewed at different angles the classic pleochroism through shades of pink is displayed well, most notably as a much darker colour looking down the prism/crystal through its termination. The tip of the termination is very slightly contacted, but it is still intact. Overall, a very large pink Kunzite for the price.
