NIGGLIITE with PAOLOVITE and Cabriite
Unknown Owner
The Oktyabrsky mine, Talnakh Cu-Ni Deposit, Noril'sk, Taimyr Peninsula, Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia is one of the leading localities for the rare platinum tin alloy, Niggliite. It is also the Type Locality for the palladium-bearing species Paolovite and Cabriite all of which occur in this small, wedge-shaped piece of polished ore. Although not a polished section in the strictest sense, this polished sample has clearly been analysed at some point to identify these rare species. A small affixed arrow marks a 1.5 mm long area of a mirror bright silvery mineral which is probably the listed platinum- and palladium-bearing alloys. The main golden, to brassy part of the sample is not listed, but is probably Cubanite or Chalcopyrite. The sample comes from a well-known rare species collection in Austria.
