Tucson, Arizona, USAPenberthy Croft mine at St. Hilary in Cornwall, England, certainly ranks right up there as one of the most popular localities amongst collectors of Cornish minerals. This is probably because of its extensive list of recorded species (110), type locality to three and at one time, between the 1980s and 90s, provided a treasure trove of colourful specimens for those brave enough to enter its rather precarious stopes, then a riot of vividly colourful minerals lining the walls! These halcyon days are now over as these sections of Penberthy Croft are now collapsed or are far too dangerous to enter. For those unfamiliar with Cornish geography, the tiny village of St Hilary lies about 3.5 km NWW of Marazion and St Michael’s Mount. Penberthy Croft mine is the type locality for Bayldonite. \n
