Tucson, Arizona, USAThis Native Silver pseudomorphing after Dyscrasite is a superb and quite spectacular small cabinet specimen from the Příbram Mining District in the Czech Republic. Dyscrasite is a silver antimonide which forms sub-parallel clusters of long acicular crystals. In the case of this specimen, these have developed to as much as 5.5 cm long but are now all replaced with Native Silver. The Native Silver has a chocolate-brown hue with hints of pale flesh pink. Under low magnification, a micro-porous, spongy texture is visible, an artefact of the pseudomorphing process. It’s a terrific example of this form of replacement which will make an excellent addition to any Příbram suite.
