Childrenite with NATIVE Copper and Brochantite
A rare combination of crystallised Childrenite with Native Copper and Brochantite from the Deep Adit Level of Wheal Crebor at Tavistock Hamlets in Devon. The top surface of roughly 7 x 4 cm is entirely covered with micro-crystals of translucent pale tan Childrenite with a glassy and frequently iridescent lustre. Small 1 to 3 mm patches of light peppermint to emerald green Brochantite are dotted over the Childrenite and in various areas over the specimen, dark arborescent growths of blackened Native Copper are visible. This specimen was collected by Richard 'Dick' Barstow in May 1982 and is accompanied with one of his white labels. Poignantly, this was the same year in which Richard died at the untimely age of 35.
