Two semi-lustrous, translucent milky-white Celestine (formerly Celestite) crystals to 7 and 6.5 cm long, intersect close to ninety degrees forming an attractive cross. From the N'Chwaning Mines in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa, the intersection of the Celestite crystals is richly encrusted with single and double terminated acid-lemon yellow Ettringite crystals to 1.4 cm and glittering patches of micro-crystalline Hausmannite. The back face of the smaller Celestine crystal is scattered with Ettringite and micro-Hausmannite crystals. The combination of these three species makes for a fabulous specimen from this classic mining district.
