A lustrous green cluster of prehnite crystals 5.0 cm in diameter set on matrix with minor quartz and epidote. This is in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jan Erik Larsen.Djebel Melh, situated near Bouarfa in the Figuig Province of the Oriental Region in eastern Morocco, features a rich geological landscape defined by Triassic evaporite diapirs, volcanic intrusive bodies, and hydrothermal vein systems. Historical and active artisanal mining efforts in this arid Atlas region have primarily targeted salt and metallic mineral deposits, while mineral collectors frequently prospect the surrounding metamorphic contact zones for secondary minerals. Among these, prehnite is notable, typically occurring as botryoidal masses, fibrous aggregates, or pale green to yellowish translucent crystals formed by late-stage hydrothermal fluids filling cavities within altered basaltic and mafic host rocks.
