You might look at the size of this Dioptase specimen and wonder why it is the price it is, but have a look in detail at the video and you will see why. This is a truly exceptional Dioptase miniature, with the crystals reaching a level of lustre way beyond that of other world Dioptase. Not only that but it is so perfectly well-balanced with display-worthy faces right around the top and sides of the piece. Formed of a knob of white, Calcite-covered matrix, it is then encrusted with intergrown, but extremely well-formed super-glossy deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals, the largest of which reaches 1.2 cm in length. A small area on one side of the piece is uncovered with Dioptase, providing a lovely contrasting white colour to the darker, green Dioptase surrounding it. The white Calcite is also nicely crystallized. With no damage to note, this is an exceptional Dioptase miniature from the famous Tsumeb mine.
