This extremely dense historic specimen, is a rare high-grade example of the silver ore from the famous St. Andreasberg mining area, at Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany. Clearly very old, the sample has an old, typed English label glued around it, typical of those seen in some 19th century British collections. Tabular in shape, the creamy white Calcite matrix is very richly shot-through with dark steel-grey Dyscrasite, a silver antimonide, and spots of orange-brown Sphalerite. Recorded on the old label as from God's Grace mine [Gnade Gottes mine] it also notes that this "lamellar antimonial native Silver" is no longer found. The Dyscrasite occurs as metallic granular patches and occasional part embedded crystals displaying some of the prism faces and terminations. Specimens of this richness are simply never seen available from this famous silver mine, making this a real treasure.
