A deep green mirror bright lustrous sharply terminated loose crystal of epidote. In great condition all around.Situated along the western coast of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico, the San Quintin volcanic field is renowned for its diverse igneous geology, featuring basaltic cinder cones and extensive lava flows. In the surrounding metamorphic and contact-metamorphic zones, hydrothermal fluids rich in calcium, iron, and aluminum formed dark olive-green to pistachio-green epidote crystals. Collectors prize specimens from this region for their well-formed prismatic crystals, rich color, and associations with quartz and calcite, making San Quintin a noteworthy Mexican locality for high-quality epidote group minerals.
