Sparkling colorless micro crystals of minrecordite on matrix with dioptase. The dioptase are mostly broken crystals or masses, a few crystals are present. Good rich thumbnail for this rare mineral. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Wouter I. Van Tichelen. The famous Tsumeb Mine in Otjikoto, Namibia, is world-renowned for its complex geology, featuring a deeply oxidized, pipe-like hydrothermal deposit in Precambrian dolomite that produced over 300 mineral species. Historically mined for lead, copper, and zinc for over a century, the site became legendary among mineral collectors for its extraordinary secondary mineral specimens. Among these rarities is minrecordite, a zinc-bearing mineral of the dolomite group that was first discovered at Tsumeb and named in honor of the Mineralogical Record publication.
