This yellow fluorite from Illinois has extremely lustrous faces and slight zoning, with glittering chalcopyrites included along the outer edges. The surrounding rounded sections of the specimen have been formed through baryte dissolution. The botryoidal baryte has dissolved away and left an isolated section of intact crystalline fluorite. This “mushroom” example is a recognizable classic from Hardin County. In fantastic condition, with an aesthetic presentation. There is bitumen included along the crystalline surface that creates a vibrant speckled fluorescence under UV light.
