Brilliant yellow crystallized autunite covering the top of matrix. This is in good condition.The Hyverneresse mine near Gioux in the Creuse department of France is situated within a complex crystalline basement geological setting characterized by ancient granitic and metamorphic rock formations typical of the region. Historically, this site gained minor attention and exploratory interest due to uranium mineralization associated with local pegmatitic or hydrothermal veins cutting through the older bedrock. While not a major commercial industrial producer, the locality became known to mineral collectors and specialists for yielding attractive specimens of secondary uranium minerals, most notably bright yellow autunite.
