The Apex Mine, located near San Carlos in Chihuahua, Mexico, is situated within a rugged desert terrain characterized by sedimentary and carbonate rock formations that host extensive oxidation zones. Historically, the site has seen intermittent mining exploration and small-scale operations targeting base metals, but it has achieved international renown primarily as a premier mineral collecting locality. Collectors and miners have extracted world-class, highly crystallized specimens of vanadinite from it's vugs and cavities, often associated with calcite.
