Its complex geology produced unique quartz-rich schist formations that later drew commercial mining interest for industrial materials during the twentieth century. Although industrial operations eventually ceased, the mountain remains internationally famous among rock collectors for producing exceptional, lustrous, dark red to black rutile crystals alongside other notable mineral specimens.
