A loose thick translucent lustrous terminated crystal of scolecite. In good condition. The Malad quarries, located in the Malad and Kandivali areas of Salsette Island within Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, historically served as an essential source of stone for construction and infrastructure development. The region yielded a distinct yellow trachyte rock widely known as Malad stone, which was extensively used between the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries to construct numerous iconic heritage buildings and landmarks across the city. Due to heavy urbanization and modern expansion, these historic quarry pits have largely been built over or rendered inaccessible, remaining primarily significant in local architectural and geological history.
