An excellent little piece (small miniature or large thumbnail). At the heart of the cavansite fan lies a more acicular pentagonite crystal. Cavansite and pentagonite have the same chemical formula: Ca(VO)Si₄O₁₀·4H₂O, but not the same crystal structure. Cavansite occurs in compact, royal blue clusters. Pentagonite, rarer, grows in more elongated needles. Finding both polymorphs perfectly crystallized together, in such an aesthetically pleasing way, is truly remarkable.
Dimensions without the acrylic base, which is supplied with the mineralogical specimen.
The mineral is not glued to the base (flexible sealant).
