Azurite from Maroc, Région Drâa-Tafilalet, Zone minière d'Oumjrane

A 4 cm specimen from Oumjrane, Morocco, featuring a remarkably large and well-developed azurite crystal perched prominently on matrix.

The azurite displays an intense deep royal-blue to almost black colour, together with an high-gloss, mirror-like lustre. Its sharp crystal faces and strong striations give the specimen a particularly sculptural appearance.

Bright green, acicular brochantite crystals cover portions of the matrix and provide a colour contrast with the dark blue azurite.
