A good example for the species with colorless radiating crystals of wollastonite measuring to 1.5 cm are in size on matrix. In great condition and crystallized all around. The School Bus Mine in Yavapai County, Arizona, is a small prospect situated within the rugged geologic framework of the Bradshaw Mountains region, characterized by Precambrian metamorphic schists and granitic intrusions typical of central Arizona mineral belts. Local mining activity in this district largely developed from the late 19th through the mid-20th centuries, though minor prospects like this saw intermittent, short-lived artisanal working periods rather than major commercial operations, resulting in an unrecorded exact opening and permanent closure date long ago. Wollastonite is a metamorphic silicate mineral commonly formed through the high-temperature thermal metamorphism of siliceous limestones and impure dolomites, where calcium and silicon-bearing fluids react within a carbonate-rich environment. It typically occurs as white to grey tabular crystals, cleavable masses, or fibrous aggregates, and is frequently found in skarn deposits associated with intrusive igneous contacts.
