Blocky lustrous colorless crystals of orthoclase covering matrix. Classic for the species and locality. In great condition.Guanajuato, Mexico, is a historic mining district famous for its rich silver and gold deposits hosted within a complex volcanic and sedimentary sequence of the Sierra de Guanajuato. Discovered during the Spanish colonial era in the sixteenth century, mines like La Valenciana fueled global wealth and shaped Mexico's mining history. Geologically, the district features epithermal vein systems related to Oligocene-Miocene volcanism. Within these hydrothermal veins occurs valencianite, a classic local variety of orthoclase (specifically a platy or bladed adularia) that forms distinctive crystal associations alongside quartz and valuable ore minerals.
