Rough and cut go together hand in hand, and this set is an eye-catching, classic example of old turquoise material from the famous locality at Kingman. The specimen presents a delicate arrangement of turquoise botryoids coalescing into a single, cohesive, grape-like cluster, displaying a matte, porous luster and an electrifying robin's-egg blue. The gems also display the most desirable hue, robin's-egg blue, for the material and feature classic “veins” known in the industry as ‘spiderweb turquoise,’ with matrix in thin, delicate, web-like patterns across the face of the gemstone. The darkened veins provide a nice dark contrast to the gem's bright blue body color, adding personality. A characteristic that is highly prized in turquoise from Kingman, Arizona. In the gemstone industry, certain treatments are widely accepted to enhance durability. For turquoise, stabilization is a standard and common practice that preserves the stone's vibrant color and ensures its long-term durability (on the polished stones). This is prized, old-stock USA turquoise that you just can't find in this quality and color as easily as before. This would make a fantastic addition to a mineral collection, in jewelry, or as an educational set. Rectangle Cabochon: 4.61 ct, 14.5 x 10.6 x 3.4 mm. Oval Cabochon: 4.20 ct, 17.6 x 8.4 x 3.5 mm. From the collection of Eric Fritz of Tucson, Arizona. Eric has a diploma from Gem-A in Great Britain, worked as a technical advisor for the Gemological Institute of America, along with being a managing director for the University of Arizona museum. He assembled a wonderful worldwide representative collection of crystals and cut stones, emphasizing famous USA locations featured in the American Mineral Treasures book that produced both crystals and gem material.
