Bright metallic acicular stibnite crystals on matrix. Good large example for the species and locality.The Montauto mine, situated near Manciano in the Grosseto Province of Tuscany, Italy, is part of the historic metallogenic province of southern Tuscany. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within Miocene sedimentary and post-collisional sequences, where low-temperature hydrothermal fluids circulated through fault zones to precipitate valuable ore minerals. Mineralogically, the site is known for antimony mineralization, featuring primary stibnite alongside associated sulfide phases and gangue minerals. Historically, mining activities in the area date back to the 19th and 20th centuries, when localized extraction targeted critical raw materials to support regional industrial needs.
