Zinkenite is an uncommon lead-antimony sulfosalt and this is a truly showy and display-quality large example for the species, with very good luster. This very fine and sculptural, two-sided, small cabinet specimen consists of jackstraw, radiating clusters of lustrous, thin, almost needle-like, metallic, steel-gray crystals in elongate vertical fans. This attractive Zinkenite piece comes from the well-known San Jose Mine in Oruro, Bolivia. This mine, along with the Itos Mine, were closed in 1992, but subsequently mined by artisanal miners for specimens in the mid-1990s when most of these great specimens came out. This is a showy piece from that time period, and quite displayable.
