The famous Broken Hill deposits at Yancowinna Co. in New South Wales, Australia have produced incredibly rich specimens of the extremely rare silver iodide mineral Iodargyrite. This fine very large miniature to very small cabinet-sized specimen displays significant areas of white to pale cream coloured waxy Iodargyrite on a typical gossany matrix. Along the main display edge elongated Iodargyrite crystals to 5 mm in length and crystallized groupings to 1 x 1 cm in area sit upon an unidentified black coating (probably Goethite or Coronadite). Around one side of the specimen a large area of flattened Iodargyrite coats the surface, but the areas on the main display face are in very good condition for such a soft mineral species. A lovely rich example of this rare species.
