Semseyite
Semseyite is an uncommon lead-antimony-sulfide (sulfosalt) that is seldom found in big plates consisting of well-formed crystal like this, and even more rarely in pieces of this size. This is an exceptional large cabinet piece for the species that must have dozens of 1 to 2 cm clusters of tightly bunched, bladed crystals all over it. The display face has only very minor bruising and there is only minimal contacting around the periphery and that shows some galena that makes up the matrix of this piece. The best semseyites, like this one, originate from the well known Herja Mine in Romania; and were mostly found in the 1970s-80s. We have not seen such a fine large specimen for sale in this quality and condition, in many years (decades!). Ex. Paul Stahl collection.
