Calcite
A study in contrast—soft, steel-blue calcite rising in layered, blade-like formations over a matrix of brassy marcasite and earthy goethite. The calcite carries a quiet translucence, shifting from pale ash to deeper blue-gray depending on the light, while the underlying sulfides add both weight and warmth.
Specimens from the Cozamin Mine are well regarded for their distinctive combinations of calcite with iron sulfides, often presenting this balance of delicate crystal growth against a more rugged, metallic foundation. In this piece, that relationship feels especially expressive—refined yet grounded, with a natural sense of movement across the surface.
