This is a very fine miniature cluster of digenite crystals from the famous Leonard Mine at Butte, Montana. This is one of the more rare copper sulfides in crystalline form and a good miniature from this famous locality. Butte was known for these great digenite specimens 70 years ago, however, crystals of this caliber and size are now hard to come by. This digenite consists of well over a dozen, dark gray crystals that exhibit a bluish hue and a submetallic satin luster. The crystals are intergrown, but still distinct. The backside shows that the digenite is resting on a brassy yellow-green to blue tarnished chalcopyrite. It displays well and has good form. The satiny look is hard to convey in a photo, so we choose to show only a video for that reason.
