Linarite
Brilliant blue lustrous prismatic crystals of linarite measuring to 1.0 cm in size on matrix. Some damage present, these are still very fine large crystals for the species from this famous Arizona locality. Previously from the collection of Barbara Muntyan with label.Linarite from the Grand Reef Mine in Graham County, Arizona occurs in the oxidized zone of lead copper mineral deposits hosted in volcanic rocks. The Grand Reef district was developed in the late 19th century for copper, silver, and gold from hydrothermal veins. Linarite formed as a secondary mineral from the alteration of lead and copper ores and typically appears as deep blue prismatic crystals on matrix. Specimens from the mine are valued by collectors for their color and association with other secondary minerals from this historic Arizona locality.
