Axinite-Fe, 8 cm, from Area 1, New Melones Dam Spillway, Copperopolis, California. Collected by the author with Ray Guillemette during the second Stanford University Geology Department expedition in 1983. These occur in typical “alpine” clefts in metamorphosed ocean crust gabbros.
