Actinolite (byssolite) on Calcite
Actinolite (byssolite) on calcite, 4.7 cm, from the Lorca quarry, Navarra, Spain; collected in April 1983. This typically alpine-type specimen appeared most uncharacteristically in dry sedimentary terrain, an environment in which one would not normally expect to find such a thing, were it not thanks to the diapiric ophite that must have expelled it to the surface together with hematite iron roses!
