Iron meteorite
Iron meteorite, 33 cm (1804.5 grams), from Youndegin, Western Australia, Australia. The first piece of this meteorite (weighing 11.7 kg)—the first ever found in Australia—was discovered on January 5, 1884. The meteorite was named Youndegin. Several pieces were distributed to England, Vienna, Chicago, and private collections. This specimen (1.8 kg) was purchased by Irénée du Pont from Ward’s in 1924.
