Silver in Calcite
Silver in calcite, 14 cm, from Batopilas, Andres del Rio District, Chihuahua, Mexico. Discovered by the Spanish in 1632, the mines of the Batopilas district were operated by an American, Alexander Shepard, from 1880 to 1902, and under his sons until 1920. They probably supplied this specimen.
