Smoky Quartz, Dolomite
Smoky quartz gwindel on dolomite, 15.2 cm, from Juchlistock, Grimsel Pass, Grimsel area, Hasli Valley, Bern, Switzerland. No repairs or restorations. There is a layer of gemmy smoky quartz crystals underneath the dolomite visible from the other side. It is difficult to choose which side is better; some specimens deserve to be exhibited on a turntable. Stuart Wilensky photo.
