Azurite, Malachite

Azurite on malachite, 29 cm, from the Liufengshan mine, Guichi district, Chizhou, Anhui, China. Formerly in the Bruce Oreck collection, this was the best specimen from a large pocket purchased in China by Ken Roberts in the early 2000s, and sold immediately to a well-known collector. At the time I was only able to buy the leftovers—a pile of flats which completely filled the bed of a pickup truck! Specimens in this size and style have not been found since then. I waited many years to acquire this one! Photo by Joe Budd.
