Mimetite from Namibia, Oshikoto Region, Tsumeb

A superb classic mimetite from Tsumeb's legendary 1971 'Gem Pocket'. This specimen perfectly exhibits the distinct features that made this find so famous: long, elegant prismatic crystals with outstanding clarity. The yellow shade is truly gem-like, glowing with the transparency that defines the best material from this historic era.

We sourced this piece about 17 years ago with my brother Brice. Now in a private collection.

Old photo probably from Jeff Scovil. We lost the size but it was major for the find, 3/4 centimeters probably.
