I am currently examining a mineral specimen collected by a local high school student. We are discussing the identity of these rosette-shaped crystals. Since the specimen was found as a loose cobble in a small stream, the original locality remains unknown. A recent hydrochloric acid test produced effervescence, and the acid turned brown during dissolution. I hope we can eventually determine its source locality.
