In terms of famous Cornish pegmatite occurrences Rinsey Cove is right up there in terms of prominence. This coastal locality was made famous by collector Nick Talbot during the 1980s and early 1990s when he collected some superb Fluorapatite crystals. This wonderful small display specimen was collected by Nick Talbot in December 1982 and retains his handwritten collection label (no. 812) which is collectible in its own right. The specimen, which requires support to stand in its optimal position, features a significant 2 cm long white to very pale grey hexagonal prismatic Fluorapatite crystal with an unusual silky lustre. From this crystal several similarly coloured crystals protrude. An even bigger, but slightly damaged Fluorapatite crystal grows parallel to the main one, but is easily missed due to its different colour and lustre. The matrix is coarse pinkish Feldspar, Quartz and Mica. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection, no. MS 2004.068.
